When we started the project, we wanted to keep the user friendliness and get more performance with out compromising its great Honda reliability. We looked at the motor and found that it had a bore of 68.5 and a stroke of 62.2 netting us a 229cc motor. The stock compression ratio is 9.5 to 1. Over the years, we have been able to improve performance with out compromising reliability in fact that is two of the things we engineer into all al kits the other is cost. P.R.C. Performance, Reliability, Cost. These three factors is what has made Thumper Racing the leader in Big Bore performance. Using this we went to work, we found that we could increase the bore to 74mm by installing a sleeve. We designed a sleeve that would fit in the cases without having to bore them. By doing this we cut the cost and made the installation less time consuming. With the larger bore we wanted to increase the compression, we tested and found that at 11 to 1 we had the best performance and could run the motor on 93 octane pump gas. So in the end we have a 74mm bore and a 62.2mm stroke netting us 276mm so we have gained 47cc's In the end we found better bottom and mid power that is very smooth and easy to use while the motor still had great top end performance.
